Tom chose to join us as he wanted to work for a company that leaves a true legacy, doing something different that’s hugely ambitious. He’s responsible for all things financial, including safeguarding the assets of the company, reporting our financial position accurately and informing the future strategy of the business.
Tom’s in charge of all our other financial obligations too, including annual external audits, Companies House declarations, tax returns, PAYE, NI and VAT returns. But his importance to Reaction Engines goes far beyond that. He plays a vital part in providing the tools necessary to progress our technology, smoothly run the business, safeguard our assets and look after resources. The faithful reporting of our numbers is vital for the wider team to know where it stands to help shape the future direction of the company.
He’s also responsible for fundraising and investor relations, communicating with government funding partners, and treasury and cash management. A major financial breakthrough led by Tom came in 2015, with BAE Systems strategic investment and a UK government grant commitment. A truly transformational moment for the company that few felt was achievable.
Tom has a Natural Sciences degree from Durham University, a Business Administration Masters, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants.
